The producers of Harley Quinn discuss the fight to give Nightwing a sexy butt
When it comes to Nightwing, his backside is his greatest asset. Batman’s former sidekick is known for having one of the sexiest butts in the DC Universe, a reputation which is hard to escape from. The animated series Harley Quinn, which has never been shy about courting controversy, will be tackling the famous derriere in their upcoming fourth season.
However, this has come with some challenges.
During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2023, the team behind the raunchy Max series spoke about their fight to get Nightwing’s butt right.
“Nightwing has a phenomenal ass. That actually becomes a plot point,” panel moderator Damian Holbrook began.
“With Nightwing’s specific character model, we had to modify our models from season three because his ass was flat,” Harley Quinn supervising producer Cecilia Aranovich Hamilton revealed. “We had to add some plump to the rear. It’s funny because the animation comes back, and his ass is flat again.”
According to Hamilton, the storyboards gave Nightwing a bigger butt, but the animators kept shrinking it. Hamilton and the other producers were forced to send back multiple notes.
“His ass is not big or round enough, please fix it,” Hamilton recalled saying.
Some of these moves might sound controversial, but according to Hamilton, DC Comics doesn’t seem to mind. “I think DC loves the show, and they’re pretty good sports,” she said.
What kind of storyline is planned for Nightwing’s butt? Popverse can’t quite crack this case, but perhaps we’ll be able to get to the bottom of it before Harley Quinn season 4 premieres on July 27.
