Is anybody else excited for The Princess Diaries 3? In 2022 it was reported that Disney was looking to produce a third entry of the comedy series. The Princess Diaries and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement followed the adventures of Mia Thermopolis (played by Anne Hathaway), a teenage girl who discovers she’s a princess.
What’s the plot of The Princess Diaries 3 and who will be returning? Right now, we can only speculate, but John Rhys-Davies will be ready when they call him. The Welsh actor portrayed Viscount Mabrey in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, and he wouldn’t mind reprising the role for the third entry in the trilogy.
During a spotlight panel at Megacon 2024, John Rhys-Davies was asked if he would be willing to return for the upcoming sequel. The crowd cheered at the question, so it seems like a few fans are eager to see more of Viscount Mabrey.
“Yes, and so would the fabulous Chris Pine,” Rhys-Davies answered. Pine starred alongside Rhys-Davies in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. In fact, the comedy was Pine’s first feature length film role.
The question caused Rhys-Davies to reminisce about the production of the film and the happy memories he shared with the cast. “Glorious, what lovely company! What fun we had! And of course, our director (Garry Marshall) was magical. He didn’t so much direct a film, he invited some friends to come have a bit of fun and maybe make a movie while we were doing it. It was glorious.”
With fun times like that, is it any wonder Rhys-Davies is eager to return? There is currently no release date for The Princess Diaries 3, but hopefully a royal invitation will be waiting for Viscount Mabrey.
