After Godzilla x Kong, the next MonsterVerse movie could be Son of Kong

What's next for the Kaiju movie franchise? A baby Kaiju movie, possibly

Suko

It's Monday. Have you seen Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire yet? You can buy tickets on Fandango or Atom Tickets. And without giving spoilers, we can say that 'Baby Kong' aka 'Kid Kong' aka Suko plays a huge role in this latest MonsterVerse film.

How big? Well, he's penciled in to be the star of a future MonsterVerse movie.

That's not new though, as plans for a Suko movie have been in talks as far back as 2021 - before Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire was even formally announced, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Adam Wingard, who directed Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong, was reported three years ago to be seeding the two films with spin-off ideas including, but not limited to, a 'Son of Kong' movie.

It wouldn't be the first time King Kong's progeny were set up for their own big screen adventure. After 1993's hit film King Kong, the producers of that movie rushed a sequel out just nine months later called Son of Kong, starring an albino gorilla that the script proposes is the son of King Kong - even naming him 'Little Kong.'

We'd say what in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire sets up Suko for a possible spin-off movie, but that would be spoilers. We have a whole guide for that though, in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire ending explained (and what it means for the MonsterVerse franchise).
