When asked about his overall experience writing these books, Daniel José Older responds "We had a really really great time. And it was hard because we were separated... we had to resort to zoom, and we did out best... this really saved me from the period of these past couple years which have been so very hard... That's part of what helped me keep going."
"From a creative standpoint, this is one of the most exciting things I have ever done," Charles Soule shares, specifically pointing out the collaborative aspect of the process.
"What one person builds, everyone gets to build upon," Claudia Gray points out. Daniel José Older follows up by shouting out the incredible artists that work on this project. Charles Soule chimes in and thanks the marketers and all of the different teams that are often unseen and unthanked working on making the High Republic a success.
"We knew that we were always going to end with the destruction of Starlight. We knew that we were going to end with the heroes losing, which is not something we usually do," Michael Siglain says about the ending of Phase One.
"It's not just a case of doing a bloodbath for bloodbath's sake... this was a step that everyone who is left (there are a few), it's going to effect them," Cavan Scott explains when asked about the sad endings for so many favorite characters.
"If it doesn't really rip you apart, you know you haven't written it correctly," Claudia Gray adds.
When asked if there's an underappreciated character to keep an eye on, Charles Soule responds Burryaga, Daniel José Older responds Arkoff, Claudia Gray responds Nan, Justina Ireland says Bell Zettifar .
