C-3PO Anthony Daniels says his Star Wars hotel scene was never seen (but it actually was)

Everyone has memories of Disney World's doomed Star Wars hotel - everyone except C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels it seems.

Just imagine: a hotel themed after Star Wars, where you could step into that galaxy far, far away and have a unique, immersive experience with the characters, environments, worlds, and magic you've grown up with since it began in 1977. The Star Wars: Galactic Starcuiser hotel was that - but it ended up lasting less than the average career of a Stormtrooper.

The hotel, launched with massive PR by Disney in the tourism mecca that is the Walt Disney World Resort in the Orlando area of Florida, lasted a scant 18 months before being shut down over complaints of overpricing and Disney telling stock holders the demand wasn't as they expected (due to the pricing, this reporter expects).

But for those who had the money to book passage on Star Wars: Galactic Starcuiser (or somehow got one of many reported comp or discount tickets), it was an elaborate multi-phase experience with storytelling pulled from the movies and TV shows, but with a unique storyline all to itself. The 2-night experience had a plotline guests could participate in, which culminated in a climactic lightsaber battle between Rey and Kylo Ren. The story (which repeated for each voyage) was set between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker and was considered canon.

Although the Star Wars hotel was shut down in September 2023, there were unconfirmed reports Disney had had discussions about revamping the project - including bringing in characters from the classic trilogy and the hit show The Mandalorian.

This weekend at MegaCon 2024 in nearby Orlando, C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels said there is an unused scene with him filmed for it - but as fans have pointed out, he may be mistaken.

“Curiously, I was going to be in that hotel," said earlier this week while at Orlando's MegaCon. "I had shot a scene using motion capture. It was brilliant, but then of course they closed the hotel."

He didn’t elaborate on what he shot, but he could be forgetting Daniels-as-C-3PO did appear in the original Star Wars hotel atraction.

[Editor's note: An earlier version of this story failed to note Daniels had appeared in the original Star Wars hotel production.]
