Lucasfilm is revisiting Star Wars: The Phantom Menace with new stories, in partnership with Marvel
The Phantom Menace 25th Anniversary Special comes out in May, features new additions to the story

Star Wars - Episode 1: The Phantom Menace is 25 years old.
That wasn't meant to make you feel old (though your back is a little creaky today, isn't it?), but rather to set-up the reveal that Lucasfilm is working with Marvel on an anniversary special that isn't adapting the movie - it's adding to it, with multiple new stories that - like Marvel's other Star Wars comics tie-ins in the past decade - will presumably be canon.
In the announcement released today, Marvel promises to delve into "the earliest days and secret inner life" of the boy who would become Darth Vader, with multiple scenes set before, during, and after the film. "Featuring the dream of a JEDI," reads the solicitation, "the gift of a TUSKEN RAIDER, the heart of a GUNGAN, the ache of a mother and the horror of a hero!"
Whatever the Tusken Raider's gift is, we're betting Anakin will someday forget.
Lucasfilm and Marvel Comics' Star Wars: The Phantom Menace 25th Anniversary Special #1 is being written by Greg Park, and illustrated by Will Sliney.
The Phantom Menace 25th Anniversary Special is a 40-page one-shot set for release on May 1, 2024.
And to relive Anakin's story as you already know it, you can stream Star Wars: Episode One - The Phantom Menace on Disney+.
