Still can't get enough Suits? Looks like another spinoff is on the way

Too much of a good thing is never enough.

Legal drama Suits might have gone off the air in 2019, but it has never been more popular. Over the summer, it broke streaming records when the first eight seasons appeared on Netflix, which, naturally, has NBCUniversal very keen to get more of it onto our screens. Now it looks like that’s what we’re going to get, with reports that a new Suits offshoot is in the early stages of development.

According to reports, the new show won’t spin-off any existing characters into their own series like the short-lived Pearson did in 2019. Instead, this would be an independent show that takes place in the same world that Suits did, featuring new characters in a new city but with the door open to having a few returning faces to help boost ratings.

We’re being purposefully vague when discussing this new Suits show simply because there are so few details available at the moment. All we really know is that series creator Aaron Korsh has been in talks with NBC to develop a new series. The intention seems to be to create a Suits Universe, with multiple shows crossing over with each other in the way that CSI, NCIS, and Law and Order have in the past.

This plan could certainly tap into the renewed interest in Suits, but it also runs the risk of watering down the show. Can Korsh and his team recreate the cast and writing that made the original show so popular? Besides, by the time the new show comes out, fans will likely have moved on to other shows that scratch that same itch.
