Alex Brightman walks our staff writer Grant DeArmitt through his illustrious career on Broadway and in animation with shows like Hazbin Hotel

Actor Alex Brightman has been everywhere. He's led the Broadway adaptations of Beetlejuice and School of Rock, where he was nominated for Tony Awards. On screen, Brightman has been in an episode of the satirical Documentary Now! series, and he's also the voice behind Sir Pentious and Adam on the hit animated series, Hazbin Hotel. 

At Emerald City Comic Con this year, our very own Grant DeArmitt sat down with Alex Brightman to talk all things musical theatre, the challenges of recording a Broadway original cast album, and how he learned to speak in a gravelly Beetlejuice voice without damaging his vocal cords. The technique is called ventricular fold phonation, though Brightman was quick to add that anyone can do it if they train properly.
