"He's an iPhone 1 in an iPhone 20 world": Alien: Earth co-star Babou Ceesay on his cyborg character

Ceesay, who plays one of the three types of artificial life at the center of Noah Hawley's FX sci-fi horror series, says his character won't have the most cutting edge tech on the show

Babou Ceesay may not be exactly what he seems in FX’s Alien: Earth. His character, Morrow, is a cyborg - along with Synths and Hybrids, that’s one of the three types of artificial life at the heart of Noah Hawley’s new FX series. Those three life types are controlled by three megacorporations racing to perfect transhumanism in this series, and as Ceesay revealed during the Alien: Earth panel at San Diego Comic Con 2025, Morrow is a dedicated agent of one of those companies.

Albeit an agent with an uphill fight ahead of them.

We first meet Ceesay’s Morrow when his research vessel, the USCSS Marginot, crash lands on Earth after a top secret scientific expedition. And when Morrow returns to Earth, he finds a world that, technologically, has far surpassed him.

"I mean," says Ceesay, "He's going back to a planet where he's essentially an iPhone 1 on an iPhone 20 world."

Now, we won’t get into exactly what Morrow’s mission is, but you might be able to start guessing when we tell you whose orders Morrow is marching to. That would be none other than one of those aforementioned megacorporations, a little outfit that goes by the name of Weyland-Yutani.

Alien: Earth debuts on FX and Hulu August 12.
