After that Alien: Earth season 1 finale, you probably want to know about season 2 - so does lead Sydney Chandler

Beware of Alien: Earth episode 8 spoilers, xenomorph fans. Not that any are coming from showrunner Noah Hawley, as the show's own lead actor confirms

Major spoilers for Alien: Earth episode 8 follow.

At last we've come to it, xenomorph lovers, the grand finale of Alien: Earth season 1. In case you need reminding, the dynamic of power has completely shifted, with a xenomorph on the loose on Neverland Island, the lovable but antagonistic eye midge having found a human host in the body of poor Arthur, and the Lost Boys having broken free from the hold that Boy Cavalier and Prodigy had on them. We're chomping at the bit for what all this means for season 2, and as it turns out, we're not alone. Show lead Sydney Chandler would also like to know.

Chandler, who plays main character Wendy, recently sat down with TV Insider to discuss the future she had in mind for her human/synthetic hybrid character, or rather, the future she hopes she'll have. Not only has FX not officially greenlit Alien: Earth season 2 (as of this writing), but even the plans being made in case they do are unknown to the actor. As she tells it, that's because showrunner Noah Hawley "keeps his cards close."

"I have been trying to get anything from him as far as what happens," says Chandler, "And he’s given me a few tiny words here and there that I’m just like, “What does that mean?” His mind is a genius explosion of color. I’ve never met anyone like him personally. I’ve never worked with a mind like his. He gives us so much space to explore on our own. He seems to trust the people he hires to do the job, and that’s scary at first and then really rewarding. It builds your confidence quite a bit. I know that he is ready for Season 2,  we’ve got the writers’ rooms going, so we’re just waiting to hopefully get a green light."

We suppose that Chandler's right when she talks about the uniqueness of Hawley's storytelling craft, yet we also gotta say, to her point, the dude doesn't want to let anybody know what his season 2 plans are. Just take a recent interview he did with The Hollywood Reporter as an example. When asked by that outlet about even the possibility of a season 2, the Legion showrunner wouldn't say anything concrete,

"Right now," Hawley told THR, "I feel flush with enthusiasm for this hybrid show that I’ve made between Alien and looking at the future of humanity in a way that feels entertaining. So I don’t know. And look, there are artistic goals and the commercial goals. I think we’ve launched incredibly well. I’m certainly hoping that it’s not a long nail biter of “Can we do this again?” My hope is certainly in the next couple of months to get some kind of sign from them as to whether I should get another job or get back to work."

It's fine, Noah, it's fine. Just like a patient xenomorph crawling through the air vents of a spaceship, we can be patient.
