FX's Alien: Earth prequel has built a replica of Ridley's Nostromo from the original movie, for the Maginot

At SDCC '25, Hawley told Hall H that walking onto the set of the USCSS Maginot "collapses time." Metaphorically, we assume - Alien: Earth isn't that kind of scifi

You may recall Popverse recently reporting that Alien: Earth showrunner Noah Hawley is not going to be going back to Ridley Scott’s Prometheus as inspiration for his upcoming Alien TV show. But in case that has you thinking the Legion showrunner is some xenomorph iconoclast, let us be the first to put your mind at ease. Ridley Scott’s influence is all over Alien: Earth - case in point, the spaceship at the show’s heart is an exact replica of the USCSS Nostromo.

It was at San Diego Comic Com 2025 that Hawley broke this news, at the FX-hosted Alien: Earth panel in the iconic Hall H. Specifically, the topic came up when Hawley was asked by the panel moderator what being a part of the Alien saga meant to him.

"I [make this show] from a place of love," says Hawley, "These are movies that were very formative for me. It's been such a joy when you walk on to that set for the first time, the set of the Maginot, which was built literally to the specifications of Ridley's Nostromo. It really collapses time, and you see it every time you watch an actor step onto the stage for that first time, like Babou [Ceesay, who plays cyborg Morrow] did. It's really humbling."

Now, loyal reader, I can’t confirm that Hawley is 100% correct here, as I was not on set for the filming of Alien: Earth (despite my many, many emails to FX). But, as one of the people in Hall H that got to watch the full pilot episode, I can conjur Han Solo and tell you Alien fans out there:

When you step on that spaceship, you’re home.

Alien: Earth debuts on FX and Hulu August 12.
