Over a decade ago, The Walking Dead co-star Chandler Riggs ate pudding in a scene that became a meme - but now he is sick of it all (especially the pudding)

The Walking Dead’s Chandler Riggs ate pudding one afternoon when he was in middle school, and nobody has let him forget it

One afternoon when Chandler Riggs was 14, he ate a can of pudding. This one-time snack has gone on to haunt him.

The Walking Dead season four episode ‘After’ is primarily remembered for the scene where young Carl, played by Riggs, climbs on a roof and eats a can of pudding. After telling his father about the pudding, the subject is dropped, and it’s never mentioned again in the series.

The fans are another story.

For years fans have brought the incident up to Riggs and given him pudding as gifts. He’s asked about it constantly during interviews and convention appearances. Not only is Riggs sick of pudding, but he now despises it.

“It has been 11, almost 12 years since we shot that scene. It equates to what I had for lunch one time when I was 14, do you know what I mean,” Riggs says during a panel at Indiana Comic Convention. “It was a quarter of a can, it was a lot of pudding. It’s amazing how scenes like that just stick with people. When we shot the scene, it was just another scene. We prep for it, we shoot it, we move on to the next thing. It was never in our minds that it would stick with people as much as it did. It’s so cool that it does.”

In a show about zombies and violence, it’s amazing that a can of chocolate pudding is what resonated with the fans. That’s the power of dessert.

Here's how to watch all of the Walking Dead TV series in order.
