We've been talking a lot about Black Mirror on Ye Olde Popverse recently, specifically because it's our very own British Week. Even if it weren't, though, there's so much to cover when it comes to Netflix's groundbreaking science-fiction anthology TV show - so much that the experience of it reaches beyond the screen itself. That's right, there's a way for Black Mirror fans to experience the show live and in person...
If you're in New York City, anyway.
As the folks at Artnet have already reported, the Black Mirror Experience in NYC is an interactive, immersive take on the show currently exhibiting at NYC's famous Shed event space. Having opened in June of this year, the Experience takes attendees through an appropriately dystopian story surrounding the biometrics we give tech companies, using a combination of VR and real sets to make the story as immersive as possible.
"Since its inception," said the Shed's Artistic Director Alex Poots, "Black Mirror has explored the intersection between humanity and technology, shaping how we see ourselves and one another in our modern age [...] At The Shed, the US premiere will bring audiences closer to the drama in innovative and intimate ways."
Here's the thing, though - there's not much time left for fans of Black Mirror to experience the exhibit themselves. Tickets for The Black Mirror Experience are only being sold until September 6, and while it's always a possibility that an exhibition like this one could be extended, there's been no word to that effect from the producers as of this writing.
