Fantasy screenwriter Tasha Huo, whose new animated adaptation of Critical Role’s The Mighty Nein campaign debuts on Prime Video next month, revealed at New York Comic Con 2025 that she was a huge fan of the campaign from its beginning.
“I had actually started listening and watching the Mighty Nein, the liveshow, when it first started,” Huo explained. “My parents lived kind of far from me, so I would listen to it in the car back and forth to go visit them. It was my first entry into D&D but it really got me hooked.”
In fact, she revealed, the campaign actually became her boyfriend test. “I was like, 'If you like Mighty Nein, maybe we can work,'" she shared.
When she got the call that they were looking to adapt the campaign into an animated show, “it was really exciting,” she recalled. “I was like ‘fuck yeah!’”
The first season of The Mighty Nein premieres on Prime Video November 19. Check out the trailer below!
