Spoilers for Critical Role Campaign 3 follow.  

Usually if you're married to someone, you find out about it beforehand. But if you're a cast member on megahit TTRPG actual-play series Critical Role, that's not always the case. At least, it's not the case for Laura Bailey, who recently revealed that the marriage between her Campaign 3 character and Marisha Ray's was a total surprise.

And what's more, it was a surprise that came about during a live performance. 

Bailey's revelation came about from the most recent episode of CR's fan Q&A talkback series, Fireside Chat. Joined by her real-life partner and The Legend of Vox Machina/The Mighty Nein costar Travis Willingham, Bailey fielded a host of questions about her many characters, but perhaps none got her more animated than when a fan asked her to describe the elopement between fan-favorite ship Imogen Temult (Bailey) and Laudna (Ray).

"That was a surprise to me during the live show," Bailey revealed, "I didn't know we had gotten married."

Popping in for a sec to get specific here, - the 'live show' Bailey is talking about was Bells Hells & the Maelstrom Kingdom, a special one-shot Bells Hells live performance that took place on May 26, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia. You can watch the event on Critical Role's YouTube page.

"It was like," Bailey continued, "[Ray] said something to Matt [Mercer, GM], and I wasn't part of the conversation. Matt was like, 'Oh yeah, you guys got married.' And I was trying to play it off in the live show like, 'Yep.'"

"Critical Role is scripted Laura," Willingham interjected, "Did you not review your scripts beforehand?"

I hope I don't have to tell you, reader, that Willingham is being sarcastic. Though I doubt a certain sect of CR viewers will believe that. Anyway...

"I haven't talked to Marisha about this," Bailey concluded. "I've thought about it as I'm falling asleep but I've yet to talk to Marisha about it."

Well Laura, now might be a good time. Although perhaps there should be a couple's counselor present.
