Batman Beyond no more: Terry McGinnis voice actor Will Friedle has quietly retired from the role for this heartbreaking reason
Will Friedle won’t do a Batman Beyond reboot without Kevin Conroy

Over the years, there have been numerous reports about another Batman Beyond project, whether it’s an animated movie or a reboot. If any new Batman Beyond projects go forward, don’t expect original Terry McGinnis voice actor Will Friedle to be involved in them. Friedle, who recently reprised his role in Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths, says he’s done with the character now that his co-star and mentor Kevin Conroy has passed away.
“If you asked me that question three years ago, the answer would be, ‘Oh my god, yes. Get me in front of the microphone right now,’” Friedle says at Animate! Columbus 2025. “Now that Kevin’s gone, I don’t know if I could do it again. I think they would need to recast both roles. Being Terry and not having him answer as Bruce, I don’t think I could do it.”
The chemistry between Friedle’s Terry McGinnis and Kevin Conroy’s Bruce Wayne was one of the best parts of Batman Beyond. I agree with Friedle. With Kevin Conroy gone, it just wouldn’t be the same.
