Critical Role's Laura Bailey has been reading Dungeon Crawler Carl, and is already fancasting Marisha Ray and herself
Dungeon Crawler Carl fan and OG Critical Role cast member Bailey has the perfect role for Ray in Peacock's upcoming animated adaptation. Well, I guess 'perfect' is a rather subjective term...

Seems like, these days, everybody who's anybody in the fantasy world is reading Matt Dinniman's of Dungeon Crawler Carl. The cast of Critical Role is certainly no exception, or at least, OG Roler Laura Bailey isn't - the legendary voice actor who's both The Legend of Vox Machina's Vex'ahlia and The Mighty Nein's Jester Lavorre has found herself so immersed in the Syndicate that she's fancasting her pals as the characters she meets therein.
And maybe even thinking of a role for herself, too.
That's what we learned at the live taping of the Collider Ladies Night, where Bailey was joined by fellow Critical Role stars Marisha Ray and Ashley Johnson, plus host Perri Nemiroff, to chat about a wide range of subjects, including which media franchises they would cast each other in. Bailey had apparently come into the conversation with LitRPG on her mind, because her answer came pretty quickly.
"I've been reading a lot of Dungeon Crawler Carl," Bailey began, to some not-insignificant applause from the crowd, "I just saw that the rights got picked up and it's already green lit, and I'm freaking out about it. But listen, I've been reading the series and I got to the role of Samantha and I think Marisha would be amazing."
Don't know which character Bailey is referring to here? That's OK, neither did Ray, so it was up to Bailey to explain who the character is to her longtime D&D actual play cohort. And, er, it's sort of an awkward explanation to give.
"I'm not even I'm not going to spoil anything," Bailey explained, "She's a sex doll. But also hilarious and psycho."
"You should just stop while you're ahead," responded Ray.
"She's great!" Bailey said, "She's like one of my favorite characters."
(Great save, Laura, great save.)
But Bailey wasn't done after casting a lifelong friend into the role of a beheaded sex toy. She had notions for a role she might herself play in the upcoming adaptation, and we have to say, it's a little bit more glamorous.
"I would also like to be in Dungeon Crawler Carl," the Insomniac Spider-Man voice actor said, and then later, "I want to be Donut in Dungeon Crawler Carl so bad."
That's the titular character's sidekick, in case you didn't know, and as a talking cat with attitude, maybe the fans' favorite comic relief in the whole series. But hey, there's no such thing as 'more important' roles, right?
Right, Laura Bailey?
