Critical Role's Laura Bailey explains why no other Vox Machina members were at Percy & Vex's wedding

Bailey, who plays The Legend of Vox Machina's Vex'ahlia, revealed the between-season shenanigans that got her and costar Taliesin Jaffe's character Percival de Rolo to the altar

If you're a Critical Role fan, chances are you keep pretty up to date with the ships that go on in campaigns. Perhaps the most popular of these is the romance between The Mighty Nein's Jester Lavorre and Fjord Stone - as evidenced by the fact that the cast threw a real-life wedding ceremony to mark the occasion. So here's a question: if that union was so publicized, what the heck was going on with The Legend of Vox Machina's Vex'ahlia and Percival de Rolo? Not only did they not get a real-life wedding, but even their in-canon wedding didn't have any other Vox Machina members as guests.

Thankfully, Vex herself, voice actor Laura Bailey, was willing to explain.

The topic came up during a live conversation Bailey had for Collider Ladies Night, with costars Marisha Ray and Ashley Johnson. At one point in the discussion, host Perri Nemiroff wanted to know a little bit more about what the members of Vox Machina were doing in the timejump between seasons 3 and 4 of the Prime Video Campaign 1 adaptation, and more specifically, how it was discussed outside the writers' room.

"This was in the game, too," said Bailey of the narrative gap, "We actually did do the timejump in the game as well. We all split off separately and then told Matt [Mercer. GM] what we wanted to do in that time. Me and Taliesin [Jaffe, who plays Percy], we were like, 'We got married, right?'"

But a decision like that isn't made lightly, especially for folks like Percy and Vex, so both Bailey and jaffe knew they had to let their characters put a spin on the lead-up to it.

"We had talked about," Bailey continued, "I think we broke up for a very short amount of time, then we got back together. The wedding was a total fluke sort of a thing. We were daring the other one to go further and further and then we're like, 'Well fine. I guess we'll just have to get married then.'"

"That's why like nobody was invited," she concluded, "Because we did it like kind of daring each other to do it. I thought that was really sweet."

Far be it for us to disagree.

With two animated series on Prime Video, Campaign 4 in full swing, and so much more Exandrian lore to come, Critical Role is showing no signs of slowing down. That's why the adventuring party at Popverse are here to bring you everything we can from those nerdy-ass voice actors & Bo., including:

...and much, much more. Roll initiative, player. Magic awaits.
