The Mandalorian actor Gina Carano and Disney settle the legal action over her exit from the Star Wars show
Gina Carano was fired from The Mandalorian in 2021, and Disney has now said that they "look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano"

Well, it looks like the legal disputes between Gina Carano and Disney have hit the end of their road. Previously, the actress had been fired from The Mandalorian in 2021 after she made a series of posts onto her Instagram story where she compared being a Republican to being a Jewish person in Nazi Germany, writing, "How is that any different from hating someone for their political views." In 2024, Carano filed a suit in California federal court alleging that Disney and Lucasfilm engaged in wrongful termination and discrimination.
Now, in a statement given to Variety, a spokesperson for Lucasfilm released the following: “The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies. Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect. With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future.”
No other details about the agreement reached between the companies and Carano have been released at this time. It's not clear if this would entail Lucasfilm finding ways for Carano to reprise her role as Cara Dune in other Star Wars projects or simply cast her in a new role altogether. At this time, the next story for The Mandalorian will be the feature film, The Mandalorian and Grogu, which will hit theaters on May 22, 2026. It's also unclear at this time whether The Mandalorian will go ahead with a season 4 after The Mandalorian and Grogu is released into theaters.
In other news, Carano has stated that she hopes "this brings some healing to the force" and thanked Elon Musk for backing her lawsuit. Do with this what you will.
