Dexter Sol Ansell is starring in a Game of Thrones prequel he isn’t allowed to watch yet

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms star Dexter Sol Ansell still hasn’t watched Game of Thrones because he’s too young, but he’s read the Dunk and Egg books

Games of Thrones can be a bit intense for children. The HBO fantasy drama features graphic violence, sexually explicit content, and other mature themes. So, it should come as no surprise that 11-year-old Dexter Sol Ansell is too young to watch it. However, unlike other tweens, Ansell is in a unique position because he’s starring in the Game of Thrones prequel A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

“I haven’t watched Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon because I’m obviously way too young,” Dexter Sol Ansell tells Popverse’s Ashley Victoria Robinson at New York Comic Con 2025. “All of my family are like the biggest fans of the world of Game of Thrones, and when we got to tell them [I was auditioning], they were like, ‘WHAT?! Go away!’ And they were all going crazy. And when I heard I got the job, my dog came rushing down because she’s a massive fan of Game of Thrones.”

While Ansell is too young for Game of Thrones, he did read the Dunk and Egg novellas after he was cast in AKOTSK.  “[Have I read] A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms? But not before, but when I heard I was joining I read them.”
