Voice actress Morgana Ignis joked Sallie May initially only got "26 seconds" screen time in the first season of Helluva Boss. But Sallie May since has emerged as a fan favorite on adult animation musical black comedy, which was recently picked up on Prime Video. In the upcoming third and fourth seasons, Sallie May's relationship will her sister and other family dynamics will be explored more.
"The thing I love about Sallie May is what we introduce you to in Harvest Moon and what you definitely see more of later on," she says at Fan Expo Chicago. "I love seeing the family dynamic that Millie and Sallie have together because it's such a huge contrast to the other family dynamics we see on the show. Moxxie, Blitzo, almost every other character on the show has a terrible, terrible family dynamic, which we're obviously exploring more and more of on the show. What Sallie and Millie have together, even though we start off like we hate each other, we have something very healthy."
The Hell's Belles shorts explore the sisters' conflict and how they resolve it, Ignis says.
"They recognize the fact that for a number of reasons they have drifted out of each others' lives. There's a little bit of blame from both to the other," she says. "But what they realize at the end is we both miss each other. We both need each in other in our lives. We both have to keep this in our lives or we're going to lose it. Being that confidante for Millie and figuring those things out was something special for both these characters. We're going to see more of that on the show."
Ignis is glad Helle's Belles came out before season two because it makes it obvious why Millie confides in Sallie May when she can't to her husband Moxxie.
"We're going to be able to explore that," she says.
