Vox Machina Season 4 begins with Percy finally happy — but it won’t last, warns Taliesin Jaffe

According to Taliesin Jaffe, Percy struggles with his paranoid nature even when the going's good in the Legend of Vox Machina season 4

We've seen Percy Rolo develop over the course of four seasons of The Legend of Vox Machina on Prime Video, and it's safe to say, perhaps, that the character is doing better now than he ever has before. But how long will this last?

Ahead of the release of The Legend of Vox Machina season 4, Popverse's Trent Cannon spoke with Taliesin Jaffe about where Percy is, and how he'd describe the character's mindset right now.

"Happy, which is very unlike him," Jaffe said. "He has, on a certain level, everything he could ever hope for. He's got this wonderful family life, he's got his kingdom functioning. But just because it's him, the paranoia never really goes away. The trauma doesn't leave. And it's still itching at him. And he's aware that he kind of has to keep it contained from everyone, because everyone is just used to him being a paranoid wreck. But just because you're paranoid doesn't mean that they're not out to get you. So, he's trying not to think about it."

I am willing to bet that there are more than a few of us who can relate to Percy's state of mind right now. Let's hope for both Percy's sake (and perhaps our own?) that he can enjoy the good things going on for him, while they're still there. It's easier said than done sometimes.

The Legend of Vox Machina season 4 will premiere on Prime Video on June 3, 2026.

With two animated series on Prime Video, Campaign 4 in full swing, and so much more Exandrian lore to come, Critical Role is showing no signs of slowing down. That's why the adventuring party at Popverse are here to bring you everything we can from those nerdy-ass voice actors & Bo., including:

...and much, much more. Roll initiative, player. Magic awaits.
