Inside the secret "Jedi boot camp" Lucasfilm holds for actors, including for all the Jedi in The Acolyte

Lucasfilm has a Jedi school for its actors, complete with Force training and lightsaber lessons

Have you ever watched Star Wars and dreamed of attending a Jedi academy in real life. It turns out that a real Jedi school exists, and it’s run by Disney and Lucasfilm. However, there is no open enrollment. To attend, you have to be cast in a Star Wars production.

Dafne Keen, who played Jecki Lon in The Acolyte, attended Jedi school, and broke down the curriculum they give their students.

“We went through Jedi boot camp, which was so fun,” Keen says during a panel at Calgary Expo 2025. “Most of my training was with Manny [Jacinto], who is arguably to me one of the best saber-men ever. He’s insane. I’ve never met anyone with that capacity for choreography learning and that grace, because he’s a dancer. We trained together and I just kept fangirling, like, ‘This is going to be so cool.’”

“A day at Jedi boot camp was you would arrive in the morning. You would do four hours of saber drills. And then for me because I had some fist fights, I had to do all sorts of boxing and stuff. It was just a bunch of us doing saber combinations.”

Of course, it wouldn’t be Jedi school if there wasn’t Force training.

“It was intense. We also did Force training, which is a very interesting experience. It was just you in a room with a woman and she’s like, ‘Feel the Force,’ and you’re like ‘Okay.’ That’s really it. And then she kind of helps you find a movement. It was really helpful, it’s just like anyone from the outside would be like, ‘What’s happening here.’”

“It was really interesting because you would figure out where your character would pull the Force from within them and it would be like, ‘I think she carries it more in the tensions in her gut or the Earth.’ It was interesting.”

Lucasfilm, if you opened up enrollment to the general public you would make enough money to finance your projects forever. Something to think about.
