Despite Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. no longer being MCU canon, Chloe Bennet sees a "weird random comeback" in its future

Chloe Bennet says Marvel Studios doesn’t consider Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. canon, but she still believes the show will make a comeback

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has a weird relationship with canon.

When the superhero spy drama first premiered in 2013, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige made multiple statements indicating that it was MCU canon. However, the movies largely ignored and contradicted the events of the show. One notable example was AOS having a different version of the Darkhold than the one seen in WandaVision.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline book confused matters more by ignoring AOS, and an introduction from Feige implying that Marvel’s pre-Disney+ television projects weren’t canon.

If there was still any doubt regarding Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s canon status, Daisy Johnson actress Chloe Bennet just put the final nail in the coffin.

“We are not considered canon,” Bennet says during a panel at Dragon Con. The audience loudly booed as she made this statement. “Even though we are, and I think the show will make some weird random comeback. I think if it gets put up on a random streamer thing, but as of now, no. And I agree, I should’ve been in Secret Invasion. It would’ve probably been better.”

Bennet also wants people to stop asking her if she’ll be returning to the MCU. “I’m literally going to die if I get asked this question again. I’m not playing a bit. This isn’t a joke. I don’t know anything. They haven’t asked me. If they would, you know me, I can’t keep a secret. I would tell you guys. No idea.”

Daredevil and Marvel’s Netflix shows were also exiled from canon at one point, and now they’re back, stronger than ever.

Who knows? Maybe Bennet and her AOS castmates will follow a similar path.
