Marvel actor Deborah Ann Woll says what we’re all thinking about Daredevil’s place in the MCU

Why Daredevil works as a grounded hero in a cosmic setting like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to Karen Page actress Deborah Ann Woll

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a funny place. There are Norse gods with rainbow bridges and strange alien worlds filled with fantastical creatures. And yet, somehow this all takes place in a world where Daredevil is having grounded adventures in Hell’s Kitchen. This not only shows the versatility of the MCU, but it also sends an important message about heroism.

Deborah Ann Woll, who plays Karen Page in Daredevil: Born Again, believes the fantastical elements of the MCU drive home just how important Daredevil’s role in the universe is. “One of my favorite little quotes I saw from someone, I can’t credit them because I don’t remember who it was – while the Avengers and everyone are saving the world from aliens, Daredevil is defending the crap out of ten blocks of New York City,” Woll says during a panel at Dragon Con.

“It leads to a great idea that not everyone can stop aliens, but all of us can do what we can within our communities. Depending on what level of superhero you are, you can be an Avenger, you can be Luke Cage or Daredevil, or you can be a Karen Page with no powers and still make a difference.”

Daredevil: Born Again season two premieres on Disney+ in March 2026.
