Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk proclaimed in a 2015 episode of Daredevil that he's "done things I'm not proud of," but one thing he is proud of is his skill at omelette-making. 

For many fans, the most famous scene in Marvel Studios' Daredevil is the hallway fight scene, but for me it's something far more pedestrian - and what it belies is something far more telling about the show, and the actor. For me, it's the scene in which Kingpin makes an omelette - which didn't just happen once, or twice, but three times during the series, once per season like a hallmark of the show.

(No, I don't know if they'll do it in Daredevil: Born Again. But they should!)

In this week's Marvel-ous, where we go big on the small things in Marvel that make us happy, I'm talking about making an omelette.

Kingpin & the art of a good omelette

Wisk's omelette skills were first on display in the show's eighth episode, where we watched as Fisk methodically and deliberately made an omelette for himself. The dedication, the deliberateness... it's all there, and is a conniving way to share who Wilson Fisk is as a character - by going straight to your stomach. There's a callback to this in Daredevil season 2 where Kingpin eats an omelette in prison, and then again in season 3 when he is free once again.

This says a couple things about D'Oonfrio's Wilson Fisk.

First, he appreciates the idea of food and cooking. In two of the three instances, he does it himself - despite being a mob boss with people do to it for him. (The only reason he didn't in season 2 was because he was in prison.)

Second, he has a particular way to cook an omelette. There is a right way and a wrong way to cook an omelette, sure, but there's also a better and best way to do that. Those same principles can be (and are, in Fisk's case) applied to his life. Fisk's mode of cooking an omelette is a metaphor for how he treats other actions in life, even down to having to break a few eggs in the process.

Lastly, Fisk knows how omelettes can be healthy for you. Eggs are packed with protein, and are high in choline - a compound that's good for brain and nerve health. 

Let's just not make an egghead joke with Kingpin, given his shaved head and proclivity for all-white suits.
