MCU’s Red Skull has a Captain America show he’s been pitching to Marvel

Ross Marquand has an uncanny ability to voice-match almost any male actor in Hollywood. He filled in for Hugo Weaving in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, where he played the villain from Captain America: The First Avenger, the Red Skull. And that's not all. Marquand voiced Infinity Ultron in What If...? More recently, he voiced both Professor X and Apocalypse in season 2 of X-Men '97. Yeah, that scene from season 2 was just Marquand arguing with himself, if you can believe it.
Recently, Ross Marquand was asked in an interview with Polygon whether he would be up for returning as Red Skull in the MCU. As it turns out, Marquand has had an idea for a TV show about Captain America returning the Infinity Stones percolating over the last few years. If you remember the events of Avengers: Infinity War, the Soul Stone was looked after by Red Skull on the planet Vormir. So presumably, Cap had to face his old World War II foe while dropping off the Soul Stone at the end of Avengers: Endgame.
"I have no idea what Kevin Feige and, for that matter, Chris [Evans], have in mind for that, but I've been pitching it for the last eight years. So far, I haven't heard if there's an interest there, but I really hope there is, because even if it's like a seven-part animated series, I think that'd be fun to watch," Marquand said.
Why seven episodes? Because there are six Infinity Stones, and there should be at least one additional episode that "sets it up," according to Marquand. "Like, it would be Bruce [Banner] and Cap, sitting down and saying, 'Here's what you might run into,’ just pre-planning right beforehand." Remember, this is Captain America we're talking about here, not a character who's allergic to plans like Star-Lord.
Marquand would like to explore the new side of Red Skull that was shown briefly in Infinity War and Endgame. "I would imagine a shift in the ghostly, almost defeated persona we've seen [of Red Skull] from Infinity War and Endgame — a shift of like, ‘Oh, I've been Atlas holding up the world for the last 80 years and now you have released me from this curse. Now it's on.’ And we already know he can fly. We know he's cursed with infinite knowledge. What else can he do? I feel like, once he's free of the Soul Stone, there could be some really interesting stuff there," the actor said.
