Nightwing may be the center of the DC Universe in the comics, but is there anyone who has a similar role in DC Studios' television and film projects? Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner, perhaps? As the redheaded Green Lantern, Fillion has appeared in Peacemaker season 2, the 2025 Superman film, and HBO's Lanterns show. In short, while Guy Gardner hasn't headlined his own DC Universe project yet, he's been a recurring player in the larger narrative fabric being woven from project to project. 

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Nathan Fillion was asked if he viewed his Guy Gardner character as an "anchor being" in the emergent DCU onscreen. 

"I don’t know if I’m an anchor being. I do think I am a thread being. The quilt of the DC universe is being assembled before us. We’re witnessing the pieces coming forth, and now we’re starting to see threads between those pieces tying them together. Guy Gardner is enjoying being one of those characters that is the backdrop to this universe. It affords some consistency," Fillion said. 

Frankly, I find a regular human like Guy Gardner being a "thread being" within DC Studios' DCU refreshing. Remember when Nick Fury was the glue holding together the MCU? Obviously, there's a big difference between someone like the Director of SHIELD and a regular dude like Guy Gardner, but I don't think that bringing things down to Earth in the DCU is a bad thing. 

Fillion's next appearances as Guy Gardner will be in next summer's Man of Tomorrow film, and then the animated Mister Miracle show.
