Kermit and Miss Piggy: are The Muppet Show’s iconic couple actually relationship goals?

Someday, we'll all find the kind of rainbow connection enjoyed by the Muppets' Kermit and Miss Piggy - or so we hope

Welcome to XOXO, Popverse! Our Valentines gift to you this year is a week-long celebration of all things love and romance in pop culture, from our favorite couples to which superheroes would make the worst dates. (It's the X-Men.) Find our love notes to you right here

It’s time to start the music, and it’s time to light the lights — because, not only is this week XOXO, Popverse (and therefore, a celebration of all things love in pop culture as we head into Valentine’s Day), it’s also the week when The Muppet Show made its triumphant return on Disney+ to celebrate its 50th anniversary with a brand new episode. All of which leads to the obvious question: are Kermit and Miss Piggy the greatest pop culture couple around today?

That’s the question tackled by Popverse video producer and Muppet Superfan Ashley Victoria Robinson and Popverse editor and Muppet Superfan Graeme McMillan in the video below — in addition to questions surrounding how creepy Kermit and Piggy’s imaginary/future offspring are, whether or not Kermit and Piggy are equal players in their relationship (no, they are not, and gloriously so), and the current state of the pair in Muppet canon, as strange a concept as that may be. Please check out this surreal 2015 interview for more on that last particular subject,.

Watch the video discussion below before you check out the new Muppet Show for yourself. (You really should, it’s great — the new Muppet Show, as well as the discussion, I mean.)

Are Kermit and Miss Piggy your couple goals? Are they your favorite Muppet couple, even? Let us know in the comments below!

It's time to let love rule. Click here to find out who and what else in the worlds of pop culture romance we're in love with.
