Peacemaker season 2 star Jennifer Holland didn't expect to fight Nazis, but loved it

Sometimes you show up for work and whip Mein Kampf at a bad guy's face. If the "you" in question is the DCU's Emilia Harcourt, AKA Jennifer Holland

Mild spoilers for Peacemaker season 2, episode 7 follow.

It's not like Peacemaker season 1 was a calm affair for Emilia Harcourt, AKA actress Jennifer Holland, the A.R.G.U.S. agent and romantic interest of Chris Smith (John Cena). And yet, you gotta admit that for all she was put through in the show's first chapter, it kinda pales in comparison to the physical toll that season 2 is taking on her. Here's the secret, though - actor Holland is actually a pretty big fan of her bare-knuckle brawlin' scenes, especially when she gets to beat the shit outta some Nazis.

The claim comes from an interview Holland did with Variety, published October 3. In it, the outlet asked the Brightburn actor about shooting her two major fight scenes - first against a bunch of violent misogynists in a bar in episode 1.

"We rehearsed for weeks," responded Holland, "And it was really draining. It was a difficult two days, but I had an incredible time with the best stunt and fight coordinators. The bar fight was incredibly emotionally charged, because it has things about Harcourt that we haven’t explored yet are coming out in that aggression."

Second (and here's where we get into those spoilers, folks), Holland spoke about her major fight scene in episode 7, when she goes toe-to-toe with an alt-universe A.R.G.U.S., which is run by Nazis.

"The fight scene in A.R.G.U.S.," Holland continued, "I walked onto set, and learned that I was going to learn a fight sequence that I had never learned before. Fortunately, with the stunts team, they had worked with me with multiple other fights prior to this one in this episode so I knew what to expect. It was so fun, because I got to throw a [copy of Hitler's autobiography] Mein Kampf at a Nazi’s face. It was pretty amazing."

Amazing indeed, Jennifer. And let us just say that, though it probably didn't feel as good for us watching as it did for you acting it out, it was still pretty damn exciting to watch anybody beat the hell out of Nazis these days.

Peacemaker season 2 is streaming on HBO Max now.
