Superman & Lois Man of Steel Tyler Hoechlin would reprise his role for James Gunn's DCU, but is also down to "do something else"
Is TV's Clark Kent, Tyler Hoechlin, eyeing another DC Comics role for the big screen? Something the Superman & Lois star said at a recent comic con has us pondering...

Despite the fact that a brand new Last Son of Krypton has recently taken flight on the big screen, Tyler Hoechlin has already cemented himself as preferred Superman in the hearts and minds of many a DC Comics fan. However, a recent comment made by the Superman & Lois star at a fan gathering has us wondering whether Hoechlin isn't setting his sights on a different superheroic (or supervillainous?) role in that brand new DCU, piloted by Mr. James Gunn himself.
Hoechlin was speaking at the Superman & Lois panel at GalaxyCon Raleigh 2025, alongside costar (and beloved Lois Lane) Bitsie Tulloch. At one point in the panel, the titular comics couple started taking questions from the audience, and it wasn't long before one of the assembled fans asked the pair if they would be a part of the Gunn and Peter Safran-squired DCU. Specifically, this fan asked wether Tulloch and Hoechlin would be willing to makes cameos (presumably as their TV characters) in an upcoming project.
"Cameos, reprise, do something else," affirmed Hoechlin. "We had we had an absolute blast together. I love the world, I love the characters, I'm a huge fun huge fan of James. So yeah, 100%."
Now look, I'll admit that I'm putting on my tinfoil hat a bit and reading into Hoechlin's comments maybe more than he actually meant them to be read into. But it feels a little strange that, almost unprompted, Hoechlin is bringing up the idea that he'd be interested in playing a non-Superman role in the DCU, no? What's going on there, Tyler, and why are you referring to James Gunn by first name?
Or did you simply make a completely innocent comment that's going to be taken out of context by announcement-starved DC fans? We may simply never know.
Superman & Lois is streaming now on HBO Max.
