The Flash star Grant Gustin says he's more famous for THAT graveside meme than anything else he's ever done

The Flash's Grant Gustin said the meme of him posing by Green Arrow's grave will end up on his own tombstone

Grant Gustin is an accomplished actor who, for many fans, embodied one of DC's core Justice League members, the Flash. Gustin portrayed the Fastest Man Alive and protector of Central City for 9 seasons on the popular CW show, which was part of the network's larger Arrowverse franchise. In addition to playing Flash (and his alter ego, police scientist Barry Allen), Gustin has also starred on Glee and appeared on Broadway, paying the lead of Water for Elephants for six months in 2024.

All of that said, he feels as if his many acting roles have been eclipsed by the meme of him posing by Oliver Queen's grave, flashing a peace sign to celebrate the death of Green Arrow. Gustin even joked at Fan Expo Chicago that the meme will end up on his own tombstone.

At the show, he recalled how his phone blew up when the meme first took off, racing across social media like a red blur.

"It was sent to me by people I'm hearing from for the first time in a couple of years," he remembered. "It reaches different corners of, like, suddenly, someone sees the meme, because it's about something they care about. It's touched every corner of the Internet, I feel like. I mean, I have joked about when I die, that will be on my tombstone. I feel like I'm more famous for that than anything."

The Flash is available on Netflix, for those who'd like to watch Gustin's second most-famous work.
