The Mandalorian's Armorer thrives in mystery according to her actor Emily Swallow, and she worries the more we know about her the less she'll feel important

Sure Emily Swallow would love an Armorer spin-off series, but then again she things too much of the Armorer may not be a good thing.

The hammer-wielding spiritual leader, The Armorer, who reminded her fellow Mandalorians that "this is the way," only made a brief appearance in season 1 of the Disney+ show The Mandalorian. Overall, actress Emily Swallow portrayed The Armorer in three episodes of the hit series. But despite limited screen time, the standout character quickly became a fan favorite. Swallow says at GalaxyCon New Orleans 2025 she had no idea that the character would carry on so long.

"I wasn't even in season one. I was only in three episodes, but they the way they wrote the character, she had such an impact," Swallow says. "And I do feel like she is someone who now people will say, you know, 'oh, I want a whole series about the Armorer.' And I kind of go, well, as an actor, sure, I would like to have a whole series about me."

Swallow, who studied Kurosawa films and the Samurai to get ready for the role, told the panel she's happy for work she gets as an actress and always hopes for more but never counts on it. But Swallow, who says she struggled with the hammer under the weight of the constrictive armor and strove to present stillness in the role, believes that in some cases less can be more. Much of The Armorer's mystique came from using her sparingly, Swallow says.

"But I also think she's a character for whom the mystery is very important. So I don't when they did tell me they were going to use me so much more in season 3, I was a little nervous because I didn't know if it would sort of lessen the power of the character to know more about her to have her more involved," she says. "But I I'm really happy that I got to do so much more in season 3."

The Mandalorian & Grogu film is slated to be released in theaters by Disney in 2026.
