When you’re working 14-hour days filming a television drama, it’s hard to think of extra workdays on another show as a vacation. However, that’s exactly what it was like for the Arrow cast whenever they appeared on The Flash. According to the Arrow cast, the key was the different tone.
“It was like going on vacation, going over to The Flash. Bright and shiny. There were no tears over on The Flash,” Emilly Bett Rickards says during a panel at Dragon Con. “You all got that. I still came out of the shadows looking mean,” John Barrowman jokes.
However, Barrowman was given a chance to play a lighter version of his character in the Supergirl crossover episode ‘Duet,’ which was a musical. Barrowman, who is a talented singer, wasn’t initially in the script, so he had a chat with the producers.
“The Flash musical episode I loved. I don’t think I was in it at the beginning. I actually went into the office, and I said these words, ‘You would be stupid not to put me in it.’”
Singing alongside the Flash and Supergirl? I suppose that’s one way to spend a vacation.
