Stan Sakai has been creating the adventures of samurai rabbit Usagi Yojimbo for nearly 40 years, and this October he's introducing a new character to the mythos who Popverse is unveiling today.

Meet Akemi.

Stan Sakai and his company Dogu Publishing is framing Akemi's upcoming debut as "an iconic moment in comic book history". She will formally debut in October 11's Space Usagi: Yokai Hunter #1.

This illustration of Akemi is done by Sweeney Boo, and will be used as a variant cover to Space Usagi: Yokai Hunter #1 - in addition to her being in the story inside the one-shot.

Look for Akeemi's first (but not last appearance) in October 11's Space Usagi: Yokai Hunter #1.
