The Addams Family are iconic characters in the realm of pop culture, so you can imagine the excitement fans of the original had when they heard there would be a new Netflix series focusing on one of the most favorable personalities, Wednesday. What was perhaps not expected was just how popular the new show would become. Although, Jenna Ortega, who plays the titular character, may have already had an idea of how beloved the character was.

During an appearance at New York Comic Con, Jenna Ortega, who appeared in the Scream franchise and will star in the upcoming fantasy horror movie Beetlejuice 2, discussed the impact Wednesday Addams has had on audiences.

"She's a creepy, little freak," stated Ortega. "But her impact is absolutely unparalleled. I've never seen a normal person bring a group together like this, and create a family like this, and create a legacy like this, and that's just a testament that we need weirdos in the world, and they're what make the world go around."
