Winx Club returns with a big new project in comics in 2024
Fans can pick up an exclusive edition early at New York Comic Con 2023, and Popverse has the covers
It’s almost been two decades since the world first discovered Winx Club, the fan-favorite animated series centering on fairy warrior Bloom and her experience at Alfea College, a school that trains fairies to fight evil — but the story is about to begin anew, thanks to indie comic publisher Mad Cave Studios… and fans attending New York Comic Con 2023 will get a chance to get in on the action early.
Officially debuting in January 2024 — which marks the official 20th anniversary of the property — Winx Club Vol. 1: Welcome to Magix will be the first in a new series of graphic novels adapting the original animated series from Rainbow SpA, produced in partnership between Rainbow Group and Mad Cave’s all-ages imprint Papercutz. The book’s official release date is January 16 (and it’s available for pre-order right now), but Winx fans at NYCC 2023 will be able to get a special limited edition copy for themselves three months early, with the NYCC exclusive featuring a special gold foil variant cover, which you can see at the bottom of this post.
The NYCC 2023 variant will be available at both Mad Cave’s booth (#3441) and the official Winx booth, at #3154 — and that’s not all; there will also be a Winx anniversary panel on Saturday, October 14 at the show, as well: The Winx Club’s Sparkling 20th Anniversary Celebration will feature Papercutz editor Stephanie Brooks and marketing manager Spenser Nellis, as well as a video appearance from Rainbow founder Iginio Straffi about the past, present, and future of the series.
Perhaps even more excitingly, the panel promises “we might have a magical gift or two in store for attendees of this birthday celebration!”
All in all, there’s a lot in store for Winx fans at NYCC 2023 — and even more starting in 2024 for fans all across the world. Happy 20th anniversary, Winx Club!
