Following the success of their adaptation of Robert Kirkman's Invincible, Amazon Studios has ordered another adult-oriented animated adaptation of a creator-owned comic book from Image Comics. This time, Amazon will adapt Scott Snyder and Jock's 2014 supernatural miniseries Wytches, reports Variety in an exclusive.

The six-issue comic series, written by Scott Snyder with art from Jock and colors from Matt Hollingsworth, follows the story of the Rook family, who flee to a neighboring town to escape a troubling past. In their new home, the Rook family learns that the townspeople have their own troubling behaviors, including a strange relationship with the supernatural beings that live in the forest.

Comic series writer Scott Snyder and artist Jock are both attached to excecutive produce the animated series alongside Plan B Entertainment (which originally had plans to adapt Wytches as a film), Kevin Kolde from Project 51 Productions, and Amazon Studios.

Speaking to Variety about the project, Scott Snyder said, "It’s all about the monsters that dwell beneath the surface of things, both literally and figuratively. I’ve been intimately involved with this animated series from the start, and I can honestly say that I love this show as much as the book, if not more. The animation brings the incredible art by Jock to life, and the episodic format expands the world of ‘Wytches,’ taking the characters and mythology to terrifying new places."

The full collection of Wytches is currently available for purchase for those interested in getting a sneak peek before the series debuts.
