As the Summer 2024 anime season approaches, there are plenty of great shows set to hit our screens over the next few months. One of the most interesting is Dungeon People, which gives a unique twist on the typical fantasy dungeon-crawling story. At long last, we have a solid release date for Dungeon People’s anime adaptation.

Dungeon People follows the story of Clay, a young woman searching for her missing father. Her search takes a strange turn when it takes her deeper into a mysterious dungeon than anyone else has ever gone, resulting in her being tasked with being the dungeon’s caretaker. When the Dungeon People anime premieres on July 5, 2024, we’ll get to see exactly how big a task that turns out to be.

Clay’s new “job” requires her to interview the monsters her fellow adventurers will fight and set traps to impede their progress, all while she continues to search for her father. It feels a bit like Delicious in Dungeon combined with a tower defense game, which isn’t something we thought we needed but we’re definitely here for it. Whether it can capture the wholesome tabletop vibes of Delicious in Dungeon or leans more toward the madcap energy of Konosuba, we’ll have to wait to see.

There hasn’t been any word yet on where Dungeon People will be streaming outside of Japan, but it seems like the kind of show that would make a comfortable home on Crunchyroll when its first episode airs on July 5, 2024.
