It’s a murder mystery with a pop idol twist. Oshi no Ko, one of the biggest anime hits of 2023, is set to return with its second season in Summer 2024. Few shows juggle the dramatic insight into the Japanese entertainment industry with the tension of trying to uncover multiple murders and a reincarnation twist, so everyone is eagerly looking forward to the Oshi no Ko season two release date.

We know that Oshi no Ko season two will air as part of the Summer 2024 anime season, but we didn’t find out until late May 2024 exactly when its release date would be. Alongside a trailer to promote the new season, we found out that Oshi no Ko season two would debut on July 3, 2024 on the HIDIVE streaming platform. This isn’t a huge surprise, considering HIDIVE also carried the first season of Oshi no Ko back in 2023.

Why are we so excited about Oshi no Ko season two? The same reason we loved the first season so much. It follows the story of Aqua, the son of pop idol Ai, who is investigating his mother’s murder. However, Aqua is the reincarnation of the OBGYN who helped deliver both himself and his twin sister but was murdered by one of Ai’s obsessive fans. Retaining all his memories of his previous life, Aqua now attempts to discover who was behind his own murder and the murder of his new mother four years later.

It is a bonkers concept but it works because the show balances it with great humor, some cutting commentary into the Japanese entertainment industry, and one of the best anime theme songs of all time. Needless to say, we’re excited to see what happens in Oshi no Ko season two when it comes out on July 3, 2024 on HIDIVE.
