CCXP has announced the dates for its 2023 event in São Paulo, Brazil. Get ready, everyone: it’s happening from November 30 to December 3, 2023, and tickets go on sale very, very soon.

Since its first event in December 2014, CCXP — originally Comic Con Experience — has grown to become the largest pop culture event in the Americas, with more than 280,000 people attending its 2022 show last December. That also makes it the second largest comic convention in the entire world, behind Italian event Lucca Comics & Games, which drew 319,000 people last year. (New York Comic Con would be fourth on the list, if you’re curious where U.S. shows rank; it brought in around 200,000 people in 2022.)

This year’s show will once again be held at the São Paulo Expo, which has been home for all but two of the CCXPs to date. One of those non-Expo events was also the only non-Brazilian CCXP, with a 2019 show happening in Cologne, Germany. (Plans for a follow-up the next year were derailed by the COVID pandemic.)

As someone who’s been lucky enough to attend the São Paolo show, back in 2019, I can personally report that it’s a show unlike any other, and a dizzying, wonderful experience overall — a genuine celebration of comics, and comic book culture including movies, TV shows, and gaming that feels at once more intimate and more expansive than many U.S. events.

Tickets for the 2023 event go on sale April 6. Maybe it’s time to start looking for your passport and making plans for some holiday travel.
