The first meeting between Absolute Batman and Absolute Joker will be "spooky" says Scott Snyder

Scott Snyder teases the first meeting between Absolute Batman and Absolute Joker (and how it pulls from his New 52 Batman run)

If you’ve been reading Absolute Batman, then you know this version of the Dark Knight is an absolute beast. He’s brutal, and he isn’t afraid to break a few bones to get the job done. However, his version of the Joker is an absolute monster. The Joker covers for Absolute Batman #15 are nightmare-inducing, and we still haven’t seen everything this version of the Clown Prince is capable of.

As of this writing, Batman and the Joker still haven’t met in the pages of Absolute Batman, and I can only imagine just how chilling their inevitable confrontation will be. According to Scott Snyder, we don’t have to wait much longer.

“Bruce meets [Absolute Joker] for the very first time in the next couple of issues, and it’s one of my favorite things,” Scott Snyder says during a panel at MegaCon 2026. “It’s like the scene I did with [Greg Capullo] where they meet on the bench in 'Superheavy.' It’s just one of those things where I’ve never gotten to do it before this way. It’s not just them meeting as Batman and Joker. It’s this really spooky scene.”

Scott Snyder is referring to a scene where an amnesiac Bruce Wayne meets a more human version of the Joker on a park bench in the Superheavy storyline. The conversation was chilling and unsettling, as the Joker subtly encouraged Bruce not to become Batman again.

This makes me wonder what Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta are cooking up for Absolute Batman. We’ll see soon, but something tells me it will take our breath away.
