Critical Role's The Mighty Nein season 2 release date seems imminent, because all the episodes are "amost entirely finished" says Travis Willingham
The Mighty Nein season 2, which finished its voice recordings alongside season 1, is currently in the post-production stage. So when will Prime Video announce a release date? Travis Willingham thinks "soon"

The next big Critical Role drop is probably, to most Critters' minds, The Legend of Vox Machina season 4, which airs this June 3. But if you were to survey those same TTRPG fans, the excitement just behind that would be the kind they feel for The Mighty Nein season 2. Now, streamer Prime Video hasn't been so kind as to reveal a release date for the second season of CR's second animated show which is based off their second campaign, but according to the Orc Hunk that's first in our hearts, we might not have to wait that long.
The Gorgeous Green Giant we're talking about is Fjord Stone, of course, known in this realm as OG Roler Travis Willingham. Recently, Willingham sat down with ComicBook.com along with onscreen-and-offscreen partner Laura Bailey, and was apparently willing to tease a peak at the still-in-development calendar behind the scenes at Prime Video. First, though, Willingham was asked to tease what he could of the upcoming season's plot...
"We left off with Yasha finally meeting the Mighty Nein in the tunnels underneath Rexxentrum," Willingham told the outlet, "Obviously, that’s going to have to resolve itself somehow. I don’t know when Amazon is eyeing the release date for that, but that second season is almost entirely finished, so it’ll be ready soon. It depends on where they want to drop it in their slate."
It's an encouraging update for sure, but that doesn't give us much by way of specifics, does it? Looking back through the Critical Role archives, though, Willingham's statement could be seen as supporting fellow castmate Sam Riegel's hope (via ScreenRant) that The Mighty Nein season 2 drops some time in 2026. But as we're sure the whole cast would tell you - as of right now, a Mighty Nein season 2 in 2026 is pure speculation.
I'll leave you with this last piece of hope here, fellow Critters. If Prime Video was looking for a big way for the cast to reveal The Mighty Nein's season 2 release date, there is some previous experience we know they could pull from. If you were around these parts for San Diego Comic Con last year, you'll recall that the core cast made several big announcements at the show, including some of the biggest voiceover actors for The Mighty Nein season 1 and the fact that The Legend of Vox Machina season 5 will be its last.
Let me be perfectly clear here - we do not know if any announcement, including The Mighty Nein season 2 release date, is coming to SDCC 2026's Critical Role presence (if they even have one!). We do know, though, that if we don't know The Mighty Nein season 2 release date before then, we're going to be keeping a very, very wide eye out.
With two animated series on Prime Video, Campaign 4 in full swing, and so much more Exandrian lore to come, Critical Role is showing no signs of slowing down. That's why the adventuring party at Popverse are here to bring you everything we can from those nerdy-ass voice actors & Bo., including:
- Critical Role release schedule
- Critical Role's Campaign 4 characters ranked
- How to watch Critical Role in order
- Ways for you to relive the Critical Role panel from ECCC '26
- Taliesin Jaffe on playing Mollymauk Tealeaf for Campaign 2 vs. playing him for Prime Video
- Matt Mercer's homebrew warrior class (created originally for Vin Diesel)
...and much, much more. Roll initiative, player. Magic awaits.
