The idea of the Absolute Universe is to reimagine DC’s most iconic characters as more violent and extreme. Batman kicks children, the Joker is a monster, Wonder Woman has a giant sword, and Green Arrow is a serial killer.

So, what would the Absolute version of Lobo be like? Mark Brooks, the artist responsible for some of Absolute Batman’s wildest covers, says the character is already as violent and extreme as he could get, making it hard to reimagine him for the Absolute Universe. “It’s really weird; I was thinking to myself, what would Absolute Lobo look like? How do you make him more extreme?” Mark Brooks says during a livestream with ComicsSketchArt.

However, Brooks has a creative way to flip the concept on its head.

“I was talking with somebody about Absolute Lobo and what he would look like, and they were like, you know what, if you’re going to take a character that is like Batman or somebody and you make them extreme – so, if you have an extreme character, you pull them back. You pull Lobo back to the point where he’s like five feet tall.”

Brooks jokes that he would call the book Absolute Stupid, and it would be the goofiest title the publisher is putting out.

“Oh, I would draw the hell out of that. It would be hilarious. I would literally make him like a third grader.”

To be clear, there are currently no plans for an Absolute version of Lobo, but if DC ever decides to explore the idea, they should take a look at Mark’s pitch.
