Archie Comics wants fans to jump onto the cover of Archie meets Jay & Silent Bob this summer in limited-edition cover exclusives

If you've always wanted to be on the cover of a comic book and have a fictional version of you meet Jay & Silent Bob in the process, Archie Comics has some very good news

Admit it; you’ve always wondered what it would be like to hang out with Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes — and, let’s be honest, Archie Andrews and Veronica Lodge, as well. Archie Comics is offering fans the chance to make that happen at a surprisingly affordable price, but there’s only one catch: you’ll have to become a comic book character in order to make it happen.

Archie Comics has announced that it is opening up its variant comic book cover program to the public, with anyone with the desire and (more importantly) the funds able to order their own exclusive cover to the one-off Archie Meets Jay & Silent Bob special issue, starring… well, themselves. But they’d better act fast — there’s only a month to take advantage of this surreal opportunity.

Of course, there are some stipulations that need to be met in order to be best friends with Jay, Silent Bob, and Archie and the gang on the printed page. The concept needs to be approved by Archie Comics, and you’ll have to pay $1,200 for the privilege —although you do get 300 copies of the comic with your cover in exchange for that amount, which earns out at $4 per issue, which isn’t that bad of a deal, really. (Also, one of those copies will be signed by Kevin Smith himself.) You’ll also have to provide your own artwork of yourself to go on the cover, although Archie is willing to provide an artist for anyone willing to pay an additional $700.

All things considered, it really doesn’t sound like a bad deal, does it?

Archie Comics’ Jesse Goldwater said in a statement about the new promotion, “As a lifelong fan of all things Archie and View Askewniverse, seeing Archie Meets Jay & Silent Bob come together has been a dream come true. It has truly been a labor of love, so we cannot be more excited to let fans from all over join in on the fun with us and bring their dream ideas to life with their very own one-of-a-kind cover! It’s going to be amazing to see what fans come up with as part of this crossover for the ages! See you at the Quick Stop!”

Concept sketches should be emailed to [email protected] by May 21 in order to be approved, with final artwork due May 30. The issue itself — written by Kevin Smith, with interior art by Fernando Ruiz, Rich Koslowski, Matt Herms, and Jack Morelli — will be released July 9.
