Marvel villain event ‘Bring on the Bad Guys’ heats up with Doctor Strange arch-nemesis Dormammu in exclusive preview

The ruler of the Dark Dimension is going to face up to some competition this August, and we have an exclusive look ahead

The villains of the Marvel Universe have been under threat from Mephisto and Sister Sorrow for more than a month at this point, and things are continuing to heat up as the Bring on the Bad Guys event nears its conclusion. How hot are they getting…? Well, as you can see in our preview from an upcoming issue, the next villain in question is a bit of a hot head. Keep reading to see some exclusive pages from Bring on the Bad Guys: Dormammu #1.

The weekly Bring on the Bad Guys event launched June 18 with Bring on the Bad Guys: Doom #1, as Mephisto launched a scheme that saw him move against some of Marvel’s heaviest hitting threats with the help of the newcomer Sister Sorrow — and weekly releases have seen the Green Goblin, Abomination, Loki,  and Red Skull fall prey to sinister events. Next up on the checklist? None other than Doctor Strange’s arch-nemesis, the dread Dormammu.

Here’s how Marvel describes the issue, due out in August: “Who dares test the dream Dormammu?! Bring on the Bad Guys takes a mind-bending turn as Dormammu is drawn into a battle across generations! The arcane horrors of the Dark Dimension come to vivid life as you've never seen them before! But what could possibly move Dormammu to help anyone seeking his aid? Part six of seven Villainous One-Shots!”

Written by Marc Guggenheim and Alex Paknadel, with art from Michael Sta. Maria, Bring on the Bad Guys: Dormammu #1 will be released August 20 — but you don’t have to wait that long for a chance to see inside the book. Here are three preview pages, courtesy of Marvel Comics:
