2026 saw the successful relaunch of Image Comics' Youngblood by its creator Rob Liefeld, and now 2027 looks to be doubling down on that vibe as Marc Silvestri has announced he's relaunching his Image Comics' founding series, Cyber Force.
"Wow, it’s been so much fun working on WITCHBLADE and THE DARKNESS again! And it’s all because of you, so thank you! Now, because of your support of our CYBER FORCE Kickstarter, I’m working on a new CYBER FORCE series and it’s hitting in 2027!" Silvestri posts on social media. "Woohoo!"
Launched in 1992 as part of Image Comics' initial launches (and Silvestri's trend-setting run on Marvel's X-Men), Cyber Force follows a group of cybernetically enhanced mutants who band together for revenge against the evil corporation known as Cyberdata, which abducted them and forced their cybernetics upon them.
In recent years, Silvestri's Image Comics imprint Top Cow successfully crowdfunded two campaigns to reprint Cyber Force stories, raising over $185,000 for Cyber Force Complete Collection Volume 1 in 2022, and the current Cyber Force Complete Collection Volume 2 effort, which is now at $127,000 with its funding window closing on March 19.
The most recent Cyber Force series was back in 2015 with a digital-first series by Matt Hawkins, Bryan Hill, and Atilio Rojo. Silvestri is writing the new The Darkness series, as well as a story in the recent Witchblade Annual 2026.
With Cyber Force returning, that would make four of the original 7 Image founding titles (and their creators) currently active, with Silvestri's Cyber Force joining Liefeld's Youngblood, and the long-running Savage Dragon by Erik Larsen and Todd McFarlane's Spawn.
