Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta have been reinventing the Dark Knight's mythology with Absolute Batman, and now they're setting their eyes on the Boy Wonder himself, Robin. This next arc of Absolute Batman will introduce Absolute Robin, but they're not going to be buddy-buddy with the Caped Crusader like you might expect them to be.
Lately, Snyder has been teasing details about Absolute Robin. While writing about the next arc of Absolute Batman, which begins with Absolute Batman #19, the writer had this to say: "It’s the beginning of our Scarecrow arc. It also deals with the concept of Robin. It’s got Deathstroke in it. It’s got new vehicles. It’s got big upsets. And that’s pretty much like, all in the first issue. But it continues to get bigger and wilder as we go," Snyder wrote in his Substack newsletter.
And that's not all. In a separate interview with Kristoff Kirchoff, Snyder expanded upon his and Dragotta's plans for Absolute Robin.
"Anyone who's Robin probably thinks Joker is a really good guy, like everybody else in this city. Everyone else thinks Joker is like Bruce Wayne in the main universe. They think he's like a philanthropist billionaire who's kind to everybody. So he might have raised somebody or whatever that will think that, with all their heart, that he's a good person. But he's not a good person."
Absolute Batman #19 will hit comic shops on April 15th, 2026.
Batman is the most well-known superhero in the world — surprisingly, given how much he loves hanging out in the dark. But between his comics, TV shows, movies, games, and more, DC's Dark Knight is the hero this city/country/world/universe needs, and we have all you need to enjoy him even more:
