Even DC is surprised by the success of both the mainline Batman series and Absolute Batman

The runaway success of Absolute Batman and Matt Fraction and Jorge Jiménez's flagship Batman title has led to the vibe at DC Comics being "so much fun right now"

In case you've been out of the loop, Batman is going strong at DC Comics. Between Scott Snyder, Nick Dragotta, and Eric Canete's Absolute Batman, and Matt Fraction and Jorge Jiménez's flagship Batman title, the Dark Knight has been the star of some of DC's top-selling books right now.

Fraction and Jiménez's run began with Batman #1, which was released in September 2025, and since then, the book has only risen in popularity. On the BIFF! BAM! POW! podcast, Fraction elaborated on the success of Absolute Batman and the mainline Batman title at DC Comics.

"The reception has been huge, our numbers go up every issue - like that doesn’t happen. DC is weirded out by it. But like, they’re in a really strong place, which is incredible, the energy and the vibe up there is terrific."

Fraction, who has been in his share of comics editorial rooms at DC and at Marvel, points out Absolute Batman writer (and DC consultant) Scott Snyder as stepping up as the quarterback of DC as a whole.

Poor Scott Snyder, who is sort of like, it feels like a war movie where all of the upper management are wiped out and now there’s just the sarge who has to be in charge of everything, he didn’t sign up to be quarterback but now he’s quarterback. With everything that has happened with the Absolute line, everything at DC is so much fun right now," Fraction said.

As a DC fan myself, it's been great to see both Absolute Batman and Batman take off at comic shops around the world. And thankfully, there is no end in sight for DC's Absolute Universe, unlike Marvel's Ultimate line.
