Many of us out here love The Vampire Lestat and the blond menace at the center of it. But aside from all the trouble that Lestat stirs up constantly, what keeps us coming back to the stories from Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles? For the executive producer and showrunner of The Vampire Lestat show, Rolin Jones, it's central human themes.

At the ATX TV Festival 2026, Rolin Jones addressed the thematic threads holding together this season of the show. Jones said, "One of the most relatable things in the world is failure. We're all failing daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, whether it's with our personal relationships, our jobs, or what we do. And so we just use that as the punishing device, right? Failure, this idea that we hang on - can you use that thing? Can you use that prism, pass through that, and find yourself or find a better version of yourself?"

It's a fitting theme for this season of the show, considering that it depicts the trials and tribulations of Lestat and his rock band. Musicians, famously, don't have it easy. And neither do vampires.

This season has Lestat reflecting on both his past and present. And given what we already know about him, the dude has plenty of failures to think on.

Episodes of The Vampire Lestat are streaming now on AMC+ with new episodes dropping on Sundays.
